Well that is certainly so here at Sindal Camping where owners and dogs can take advantage of the excellent dog walking opportunities both within the campsite and nearby. Sindal Camping has large open spaces where you can let dogs run, and there are two wooded areas for walking spaces, one at each end of the site, all within the campsite perimeter. For the owners, too, this well organised campsite has most excellent modern facilities. Most highly recommended are the conveniently spaced toilet blocks that are bright, clean and comfortable with shower and WC. The very popular family rooms in the blocks are spacious and pleasant to be in.
The units for the caravans and camper vans are large and many have hedges to the sides providing privacy, shade and shelter. After leaving your van to walk your dog in the campsite woods there benches for you to rest on and there are dog pouches hung at intervals for your convenience to pick up after your pet. You can dispose of these in the bins provided. A little further afield there are other dog friendly places to visit.
Dog friendly Woods nearby
There is a specially fenced off dog wood (Hundeskov) where you can let your dog run freely without a leash. This great place to exercise your dog is just across the main road, Hjorringvej, and only a five minute walk from Sindal Camping.
Neighbouring the Hundeskov to the north is the newly opened Slotsved Skov Dyrehave (Slotsved Woods Deer Park). It was inaugurated in 2018 as Denmark’s second largest deer park at 202 hectares. There are about 440 deer which can be observed from the system of walking paths for the visitors to explore this beautiful attraction. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash for the sake of the deer. There are also specially designated cycle paths. Recreation areas with shelters and barbeque facilities are provided so you can enjoy grilling a sausage, if it takes your fancy! Slotsved woods can also be reached via Denmarksgade from Sindal town.
Veterinary assistance service at Sindal Camping.
We have many guests from Nordic countries that spend a night on their way to and from southern climes. Customers with dogs that need to have obligatory veterinary care such as vaccines and certificates are able to take advantage of our agreement with local vets, who will come out to the campsite. This is convenient for those with large camper vans who can access veterinary care without having to leave the campsite.
At the campsite we have a paddock with sheep and goats, intended primarily for children to see and cuddle the small kids and lambs. It has also proved to be a very popular place for dogs who love to watch the activities in the paddock, but from outside. In fact we hear from the owners that they simply can’t avoid going past the paddock when “being walked by their dogs.”
Sidal Camping’s central location in the heart of Vendsyssel means that possibilities for trips out in nature, with or without a dog, are diverse and within easy reach. There are fantastic beeches to visit and the dune plantations just behind them. Further inland are many wooded areas or the wide open expanses of sand hills or heath lands.
